The police in Kira division intensified their intelligence led operations targeting criminals in Kapela, Kimbejja and Kyaliwajala, where they successfully arrested over 30 suspects on the nights of 27th and 28th May 2024.
According to the deputy spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan police Luke Owoyesigyire the suspects are currently being held at Kira Division Police on allegations of unlawful possession of suspected narcotic substances, specifically marijuana.
In addition, he stated that CCTV camera operators successfully identified two individuals assaulting some members of the public. “One of the suspects, Mutebi Shafic, was arrested in Namugongo Agenda 2000 after hitting a person with a stone. Shafic was apprehended with the stone used in the assault.” He said
He however said, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for first aid, adding that their details will be soon availed to the general public. “The operations in Kira Municipality are ongoing, with a dedicated focus on eradicating crime in the area. Further details will be shared as they become available.” Owoyesigyire narrated
