Kampala, Uganda – In a successful operation conducted by the Directorate of Crime Intelligence and other security agencies, eight suspects involved in the distribution, manufacture, and sale of counterfeit money were arrested yesterday afternoon at Elite Arcade on Nasser Road.
The deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan police Luke Owoyesigyire disclosed that the principal dealer, Mukasa Ronald, and his accomplices – Mugumya Geey, Brian Abaho, Joel Kagame, Ogadi Ronald, Namuwaya Shadia, Segwayi Rodgers, and Abu Mayanja – were apprehended and are facing charges of dealing in counterfeits.
According to Owoyesigyire, the operation resulted in the recovery of counterfeit money in various currencies, including Ugandan shillings, South Sudanese Pounds, US Dollars, Euros, Rwandan Francs, United Kingdom Pounds, and Kuwaiti Dinars. Materials used in the production of counterfeit money, such as films, papers with images, chemicals, CPUs, monitors, digital printers, and suspected forged land titles as well as academic documents, were also seized.

Police say, the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
