Pastor Robert Kayanja Testifies Against Accusers in Sodomy Case

Pastor Robert Kayanja, the founder of Miracle Center Cathedral

Kampala, Uganda – City Pastor Robert Kayanja of Lubaga Miracle Center testified yesterday at the Mwanga II Court against nine young men who allegedly falsely accused him of sodomy.

In his testimony, Kayanja revealed that he met the group during his 2017 revival, “77 DOGs,” when they sought to turn their lives over to Jesus. The church welcomed them, and they eventually joined the church’s security team after training.

However, Kayanja began receiving reports of theft, assault, and abandonment of the church’s farm in Kiryandongo. The suspects demanded full payment of their salaries, which Kayanja agreed to pay in installments.

On September 17, 2021, during lockdown, the suspects breached security, filmed themselves making false accusations of sodomy against Kayanja, and posted the videos online.

Kayanja denied the allegations, citing a similar incident in 2010 where fellow pastors were convicted and sentenced to community service.

One witness, Sam Magomu, testified that Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga of Christian Life Church was behind the plot to falsely accuse Kayanja, promising the group money, passports, and relocation abroad.

The nine accused face charges of trespass, false information, and conspiracy, as Kayanja’s lawyers vow to pursue justice and clear his name.
