Kisoro, Uganda – Independent candidate Akifeza Ngabirano has emerged victorious in the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament by-election, securing 50,459 votes.
Returning Officer Dan Nayebare made the official announcement, congratulating Akifeza on her win and expressing gratitude to voters and stakeholders for a successful election process.

– _Rose Kabagyeni (NRM)_: 44,982 votes
– _Zubedi Sultana Salim (NUP)_: 903 votes
– _Musanase Juliet (FDC)_: 193 votes
– _Ingabire Mable (UPC)_: 362 votes
– _Cyimpaye Aisha (PPP)_: 157 votes
Akifeza’s victory comes after a competitive race to fill the vacant seat following the tragic death of Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi.
She had previously contested the NRM primaries but decided to run as an independent candidate after citing irregularities and harassment of polling agents.
Her win marks a significant triumph for independent candidates in Uganda’s political landscape.
