Fort Portal, Uganda – Police in Fort Portal City have apprehended a prime suspect linked to the armed robbery of Kezaabu Irene, a businesswoman, on November 14, 2024.
The incident occurred at 7:30 pm at her workplace, Buguma & K.I Motor Cycles Spares Enterprise, located in Kisenyi-Mugunu Cell, Baazar Ward, Central Division.”
The suspect, identified as Businge Abdul, alias Vinner, was apprehended after boarding a bus to Kampala, while another suspect, known only by the nickname Kanyankore, was caught by an angry mob and unfortunately lynched.
According to the police spokesperson, ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the robbery resulted in the theft of approximately UGX 50 million, which was handed over to them before they fled the scene.
“The attackers, estimated to be eight in number and armed with a rifle, confronted the victim and other employees, threatening them with death unless they surrendered the money.” Kituuma stated
The police was however, alerted and responded promptly, leading to the successful apprehension of the key suspect.
Tragically, a suspect known only by the nickname “Kanyankore” fell victim to mob justice after being apprehended.
Kituuma said, “Our intelligence indicated that another key suspect, Businge Abdul, alias Vinner, had boarded a bus heading to Kampala.” He added, “Mubende Police intercepted the bus, successfully arresting Businge Abdul. Some of the stolen money was recovered during this operation.”
