Mityana RDC’s Vehicle set on fire by unknown suspects

The Deputy RDC of Mityana's vehicle which was burnt by unknown suspects.

MITYANA|The police in Mityana have opened up an investigation following a case of arson which occured yesterday at 2:00 am in the home of Prossy Mwanjuzi, the Deputy RDC of Mityana who is a resident of Mizigo B Cell, Busimbi Division.

According to the spokesperson of Wamala SP Racheal Kawala, the deputy RDC Prossy Mwanjuzi heard movements of unknown individuals outside outside her house, who tried to start her vehicle. “Shortly after, she heard a loud burst, followed by a fire sparking from the bonnet of her vehicle, a blue Toyota Surf with registration number UBM 769S.” Said Rachael

The spokesperson disclosed that the fire started at the front tire on the co-driver’s side, which prompted her to called the neighbors who helped extinguish the fire by pouring water on the vehicle. “We were informed about the incident, and a case of arson has been opened at Mityana Police Station, vide SD ref 03/01/06/2024. Investigations have commenced.” Said Rachael

She also said that the crime scene was visited by their task team led by the DPC of Mityana, where a K9 dog was introduced to the scene which only trailed up to the road and lost the track, indicating that the arsonist used either a motorcycle or another means to flee.

“It has been established that the motor vehicle, registration number UBM 769S, a blue Toyota Surf belonging to the Deputy RDC of Mityana, was burnt. The most damaged part is the bonnet, especially on the co-driver’s side, where the tire was completely burnt.” She said

Rachael also revealed that there were three vehicles that included that of the RDC, in the quarters which had its main gate open for easy entry, but only the one belonging to the Deputy RDC was burnt.

She further notified that the search efforts are ongoing, adding that they will do everything within their means to ensure that the suspects are brought to book.
