The president of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially Opened R.t Hon. Anita Among’s Teaching Hospital and college of health sciences in Bukedea district.

The president lauded the Speaker, Anita Among for being an active, developmental and innovative leader and further thanked her for bringing quality and affordable healthcare closer to the people of Teso and neighbouring districts.

“I congratulate my daughter [Among] for being such an active young person in helping her people. She built the school, then the hospital and the school of nursing and paramedical studies,” Museveni said.

Museveni said that Among is not only innovative but a good listener. He commended her for investing in what he termed as an imaginative project.

“She is a good planner; she constructed a school [Bukedea Comprehensive School] to provide the very much sought after quality education. Now the money she gets from the school is what she used to build the hospital which also provides healthcare

President Yoweri Museveni  also blasted social media critics who have taken to social media to attack Speaker Anita Among, describing them as puppets and traitors who are serving the interests of ‘bad’ foreigners.

“People like [Speaker] Anita Among are not the problem. The real problem we have is the traitors working for foreigners. They are not mistake makers but outright traitors working for wrong foreigners like homosexuals and imperialists. How can you talk so much on social media about Anita Among instead of those traitors? I’m getting intelligence and we’re going to expose those traitors,” Museveni said.

Speaker Among thanked the President for providing the financial support to enable the construction of the hospital.

In 2017, President Museveni laid a foundation stone for the construction of the hospital, having offered land for the same. The land initially belonged to Bukedea District Local Government and had remained undeveloped.

Since then, construction has been ongoing until January 2024 when the hospital started operations.

Bukedea Teaching Hospital has so far handled more than 2,000 patients.
