Police in Gulu charges 1 suspect for masquerading as an MK movement member

The directorate of crime intelligence in coordination with CID in Gulu district charged a one Iguma Mubarak aged 33 in court for obtaining money by false pretence from over 200 people in Elegu.

According to the police spokesperson Fred Enanga the suspect had been falsely posturing as a member of the MK movement claiming he would link the victims to Muhoozi Kainerugaba for financial support.

“Over 200 people, were defrauded by him in Elegu, especially boda boda riders, taxi operators, market vendors, salon and bar operators, after he promised that he would link them up to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba (Gen. MK), for support.” Said the police spokesperson

A one Iguma Mubarak who was arrested and charged for impersonation.

Enanga said more efforts are still ongoing to trace for his other accomplice, called Abdul Karim Matovu, who is on the run by their security team.

He also disclosed that upon search, evidence showed that the suspect had made false statements in the name of the MK constitution and membership cards, which he issued to the victims upon paying for the membership fees.

“the arrest will serve as a great warning to fraudsters and con persons, who use false identities and misrepresentations, to defraud innocent victims. He was charged before the Chief Magistrates Courts in Gulu.” Enanga stated
