Kampala, Uganda – The Police in Kabalagala have apprehended two suspects in connection with the tragic murder of an Eritrean national, Hannibal Tewelde, 30, a refugee residing in Lukuli zone, Makindye Division. The deceased was fatally assaulted at My Place Bar within AD Plaza Apartment along Kibuli road on the night of July 7, 2024.
According to eyewitnesses, a brawl erupted between the deceased and the suspects, Siem Fustem and Henok Foto, also Eritrean nationals and refugees, at around an unknown time. The suspects allegedly struck the victim on the head with a beer bottle, causing severe injuries.
The suspects then rushed the deceased to Nsambya Hospital at approximately 0730 hours, where he was pronounced dead. The incident was reported to Kabalagala Police Station at 0855 hours, and officers promptly visited the scene to gather evidence and record witness statements.
The body has been transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
The police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The suspects are currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station pending further inquiry.
