Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has expressed optimism about winning the Kisoro Woman MP by-election, slated for tomorrow, November 14, 2024.
According to UPC Spokesperson, Sharon Oyat, the party’s candidate, Ingabire Mable, has garnered overwhelming support from the people of Kisoro District during the recent campaign period.
“We believe we have the best candidate to better lead the people of Kisoro. Tomorrow 14th November 2024, Kisoro will go into polls to decide who their next woman Member of Parliament will be.” She disclosed
She added, “Uganda Peoples Congress extends great appreciation to the people of Kisoro District who showed up at every campaign ground exhibiting overwhelming support for our candidate.”
She also lauded the party leadership led by President Jimmy Akena for their spirit of unity exhibited in Kisoro district during the campaigns for their candidate Ingabire Mable.
In addition, she emphasized that their campaign team in Kisoro by-elections, focused mainly on people’s welfare, reminding them about the foundations laid by UPC governments in terms of service delivery and promising to rebuild the district.
She however, cautioned stakeholders against vote rigging, bribery, and violence, urging citizens to come out in large numbers and vote for Ingabire Mable. “We have identified and trained our agents and observers to guard our votes at any cost, as we have done and demonstrated in the previous by-elections in both Dokolo and Oyam North.” Arach said
UPC’s optimism is fueled by recent victories in Dokolo District’s Woman MP by-election, where Aguti Sarah won with 48.85% of the votes, and Oyam County North, where Eunice Otuko Apio narrowly edged out NRM’s Samuel Engola Okello.
The by-election aims to replace the late Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, Kisoro district woman member of parliament and state minister for defense and veteran affairs, who passed away on September 7.
