Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has officially nominated Comrade Ingabire Mable as its flag bearer for the Kisoro District Woman MP by-election, scheduled to take place on November 14, 2024.
Ingabire Mable was duly nominated by the Independent Electoral Commission on October 31, 2024.
According to Sharon Oyat Arach, UPC spokesperson, the party is thrilled to have Ingabire Mable on board and is confident that she will make a great representative for the people of Kisoro District.
“We would like to congratulate her together with the Party local leadership and members upon going through this vital stage of becoming a candidate.” Arach said
She also highlighted, that the campaigns are ongoing and the Party is very much appreciative of the support exhibited so far by members on the ground and the people of Kisoro District.
The UPC has called upon all party leaders, members, and well-wishers to support Ingabire Mable in achieving the ultimate goal of winning. “The Party President Hon. Jimmy Akena will touch base in Kisoro to campaign for the Party candidate. On this note we call upon all members, supporters and sympathizers to join the President as we camp in Kisoro to canvas for the votes.” She emphasized
The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) also called on all stake holders to ensure a peaceful campaign and by-election in Kisoro District, emphasizing the importance of security agencies remaining neutral to ensure law and order. “All security personnel should have name tags and badge numbers for easy identification to avoid imposters personnel disguising as security operatives as seen in past elections.” She disclosed
Other candidates vying for the position include, Independent Candidate Akifeza Grace Ngabirano, Zubedi Sultana Salim the National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate, Cyimpaye Aisha who is representing the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), FDC’s Juliet Musanase, Rose Kabagenyi (NRM)
The by-election follows the passing of Sarah Mateke, the former Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs, who held the Kisoro Woman MP seat until her death in early September.
