Abim, Uganda – In a swift and decisive operation, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) thwarted an attempted cattle rustling by Jie warriors in Kailong Dam, Chamokok Sub County, Abim District, on August 11, 2024.
According to Captain Favourite Rugumayo, PIO of Division, troops from the 85 Battalion, 507 Brigade, under the 5 Infantry Division, ambushed a group of five Jie warriors who had stolen a bull from Agonga Village, Alekele Sub County, Abim District.
The operation resulted in the neutralization of two warriors and the recovery of stolen items, including an AK-47 sub-machine gun, UPDF digital uniforms, gun oil, and the seized bull.
The UPDF praised the collaborative efforts of local leadership in maintaining security within the sub-region. The successful operation is a significant boost to the ongoing efforts to combat cattle rustling and ensure peace and stability in the area.
