US Senator & presidential candidate Rollan Roberts slams UK’s sanctions against Speaker Among

United States Senator and Presidential candidate Rollan Roberts

United States Senator and Presidential candidate Rollan Roberts has slammed UK’s sanctions against Uganda’s speaker of the 11th parliament R.t Hon. Anita Among, calling the decision corrupt since it’s based on her failure to block the anti-LGBTQ bill that was passed in parliament under her watch.

In a statement he released through his X handle, Roberts called for the immediate withdrawal of these sanctions, describing them as unjust and retaliatory.

On April 30, the UK government announced sanctions against Speaker Among and two former ministers for Karamoja affairs, Mary Goretti Kitutu and Agnes Nandutu, citing their involvement in corruption.

Under the UK’s Global Anti-Corruption sanctions regime, Among, Mary Kitutu, and Agnes Nandutu face travel bans and asset freezes.

Read full statement of US Senator and Presidential candidate Rollan Roberts below;

In response to the United Kingdom’s sanctions dated 30 April 2024 against Uganda’s sitting Speaker of the Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, I want to unequivocally state my full support for Rt. Hon. Anita Among and call on the U.K. to immediately withdraw all contrived, retaliatory sanctions against Uganda’s Madam Speaker. This is a great act of corruption by U.K. actually using a never-before-used “anti-corruption” statute to actually propagate corruption because she did not block the anti-LGBTQ bill.

I will do RIGHT by all people and all nations on earth.
