Kampala, Uganda – Kabalagala police have launched an investigation into the death of 9-year-old Omugal Arron, whose body was found hanging at their home in Nsambya Police Barracks home, in what police suspect may be a case of suicide.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police, the boy’s sister discovered his body hanging from a makeshift iron sheet ceiling with a shoelace around his neck on October 6, 2024 in the morning hours.
“The sister had been chased out of the house by the victim, and when she returned to rest, she found him hanging,” Owoyesigyire said
Police investigations have revealed no signs of physical injury on the body, except for the neck injury caused by the shoelace.
Police say, the body of the victim was conveyed to the city mortuary in Mulago yesterday.”The motive behind this tragic incident is still unknown, we await postmortem results to ascertain the exact cause of his death.” Owoyesigyire said
The police have recorded statements from the maid, who reported the incident, and are continuing their investigation.”It’s very unfortunate to find a 9 year old if it’s true that he took his life.” He stated
