Kampala, Uganda – The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a travel advisory for Ugandans traveling to India, requiring them to undergo yellow fever checkups before departure.
This comes after the Indian government introduced mandatory yellow fever vaccination requirements for travelers from 42 affected countries, including Uganda.
According to Simon Peter Mundeyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, travelers aged 9 months and above must provide a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate issued by an authorized center.
“Failure to provide this certificate will result in a quarantine period of up to 6 days at designated facilities in India, at your own cost,” Mundeyi warned.
Mundeyi emphasized that the yellow fever vaccination certificate only becomes valid 10 days after vaccination.
The Ministry urged all travelers to comply with these regulations to ease their movement.
This move aims to prevent the spread of yellow fever and protect public health in India.
