Kampala, Uganda – A devastating road crash on Lubaga Road opposite Luqman Petrol Station has claimed the lives of two people and left eight others injured.
According to the spokesperson of Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety, SP Kananura Michael, the accident occurred today morning at 6:30 am when a speeding Toyota Hiace vehicle, registration number UAU 194T, failed to brake while descending a slope. “The vehicle lost control and rammed into a building alongside Lubaga Road, opposite Luqman Petrol Station killing instantly 2 people including the driver and injured 8 others.” Kananura highlighted
The driver and one passenger died instantly, while eight others were rushed to Mengo Hospital and Mulago Referral Hospital for medical attention.
The Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety has urged motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits, particularly in urban areas, and ensure their vehicles are well-maintained to prevent such tragedies.
“The vehicle has been towed to Old Kampala Police Station for inspection as inquiries commence,” said SP Kananura Michael
The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary pending post-mortem examination.
