Nursing Student Arrested for Multiple Kidnappings in Kiboga

Kiboga, Uganda – The territorial police in Kiboga have arrested a key suspect allegedly involved in multiple kidnapping cases in Kiboga District.

According to SP Kawala Racheal the police spokesperson for Wamala Region, the suspect identified as Bukenya Rashid, a 25-year-old male nursing student at Lubaga Hospital Training School, was Arrested on October 16, 2024, through intelligence-led operations.

Racheal said, “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to participating in two separate kidnappings, registered under case numbers KBG CRB 642/2024 and KBG CRB 629/2024, which occurred on 5th October 2024 and 12th October 2024, respectively, in Kiboga Town.”

The first incident involved the kidnapping of a 4-year-old boy from his home in Saza, Kiboga Town. The kidnapper demanded a ransom of 1 million Ugandan shillings but settled for 300,000 UGX. Fortunately, the child was recovered alive.

The second incident involved the kidnapping of a 3-year-old boy from his parents’ home in Kiboga Town. The kidnapper demanded 1 million UGX but received 400,000 UGX. Thankfully, the police task team rescued the child.

“Since then, our task teams have been working tirelessly to ensure that the suspects are brought to justice. Both phone lines used to deposit the 300,000 UGX and 400,000 UGX have been recovered.” Kawala Said

Rashid is currently being held at Kiboga Central Police Station, awaiting a court appearance.
