Mubende Police Crack Down on Robbery Gang, Arrests 5

Six black cows and four brown cows that were recovered by the authorities

Mubende, Uganda – A joint operation by territorial police, UPDF, and local authorities has led to the arrest of five suspects alleged to be part of a robbery gang.

The suspects, identified as Lugamba Vicent (38), Luwomwa Brian (20), Ssekyanzi Vincent (16), Twinomukuni John (20), and Bisirikirwa Frank (18), were apprehended in Busenya village, Kalonga parish, Kalonga subcounty on October 24, 2024.

According to SP Kawala Racheal, the police spokesperson of Wamala region, a search was conducted in the premises of the suspects and several items were successfully recovered including:- Six black cows and four brown cows,One motorcycle (reg. no. UET 132A),11.5 bags of dry and raw premature coffee,3 smartphones and 8 button phones,LC1 stamp of Kakenzi village,17-inch LED screen TV,2 national identity cards,Sim cards (2 MTN, 3 Airtel),5 pangas,2 weighing scales, and 3 slot machines

The suspects allegedly dealt in stealing cattle, goats, premature coffee, motorcycles, and electronics, as well as shop breaking and thefts in Mubende and Kassanda districts.

“We commend the joint efforts of our teams and local authorities in combating crime,” said SP Kawala Racheal, PRO Wamala. “Investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served.”

The suspects are currently being held at Mubende CPS for interrogation.
