Breaking: Controversial Lawyer Ssemakadde Elected Uganda Law Society President

Kampala, Uganda – In a highly contested election, Counsel Isaac Ssemakadde has been elected as the new President of the Uganda Law Society, garnering 3,021 votes. His closest rival, Isaac Atukunda, secured 2,101 votes.

The election results were announced after a rigorous voting process, with Ssemakadde emerging victorious in most polling stations.

Breakdown of Polling Station Results:

– Polling Station E: Ssemakadde (246), Atukunda (104)

– Polling Station G: Atukunda (116), Ssemakadde (338)

– Polling Station B: Ssemakadde (268), Atukunda (126), Invalid (5)

– Polling Station C: Atukunda (102), Ssemakadde (225), Invalid (6)

– Polling Station H: Ssemakadde (154), Atukunda (92), Invalid (1)

– Polling Station (Unnamed): Ssemakadde (155), Atukunda (92)

Ssemakadde’s victory was evident across various polling stations, with him securing a significant lead in the overall vote count.

As the newly elected president, Ssemakadde will lead the Uganda Law Society, which serves as the Bar Association for lawyers in Uganda. His experience and expertise are expected to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the legal profession in Uganda.

The Uganda Law Society, established in 1956, aims to enhance and protect members’ interests, ensure statutory obligations are met, and promote efficient legal service delivery.
