Kayunga, Uganda – The Territorial Police in Kayunga District have arrested the Headteacher of Lion of Judah Elementary School, Mrs. Namakula Annet, over alleged involvement in Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) malpractice.
According to SP Hellen Butoto, Police Spokesperson for Ssezibwa Region, the arrest followed a tip-off received by the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) of Kayunga on November 6, 2024.
“Upon receiving the information, the DISO visited the school premises and found three teachers solving mathematics problems, suspected to be answers for the 2024 UNEB PLE Mathematics examination,” SP Butoto said.
The three teachers, identified as Kyondo Rodgers, Ngobi Samuel, and Orune Julius, all staff members at Lion of Judah Elementary School, allegedly prepared answer sheets for both Section A and Section B of the examination.
“The retrieved answer sheets corresponded exactly with the UNEB Mathematics examination questions, in the correct sequence,” SP Butoto added.
Mrs. Namakula Annet has been taken into custody to assist in ongoing investigations, while a search is underway for the three suspected teachers. UNEB staff assigned to the school have also been summoned to provide statements.
Butoto urged the public to report any suspicious activities that may compromise the integrity of the UNEB examination process.
