Kitara welcome Vipers at Masindi Municipal stadium on Friday at 4pm in a what could be a ‘title race defining match’.
The two teams face off again in less than a week after the Uganda Cup quarter final which ended with Kitara winning on penalties following a four-goal thrilling stalemate.
Top of the table at the moment with 44 points, the Royals will open an eight points gap between them and third placed Vipers if they win.
However, defeat will see them dislodged from the top spot which they have held since the start of the second round.
“We just played recently in the Uganda Cup and it wasn’t an easy match,” said Brian Ssenyondo, Kitara coach. “We come into this game also knowing it will be hard because it decides a lot on the table position,” he added.
“And we want to keep our position and points difference and we have prepared well and corrected the mistakes we made in the last game.”
Paul Mucureezi who scored twice against the Venoms last time out will be crucial again and so are Frank Tumwesigye and Benjamin Nyakoojo – all facing their former pay masters.
Denis Omedi, Jude Ssemugabi and Brian Aheebwa have a task to unlock the champions backline.
Meanwhile, Richard Wasswa are neat at both ends of the pitch as defeat could surely end his title charge.
Yunus Sentamu, Allan Okello and Moses Waiswa played well on Sunday and will probably aim to keep same performance.
