KMP Police Investigate Suspicious Death and Assault at Nsambya Hospital

Kampala, Uganda – The Territorial Police at Katwe and Kabalagala are actively investigating a suspected murder incident at Nsambya hospital involving Tumwesigye Joram, a 28-year-old male resident of Makindye Division, Kampala District.

Preliminary findings indicate that on the night of 19th November 2024, Nsambya Hospital received Tumwesigye Joram as a patient, brought in by six unidentified individuals. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead approximately an hour after admission.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, upon death of the victim, an individual identified by eye witnesses as “Alien skin” came and demanded the medical forms from the attending doctor, and upon refusal, assaulted Dr. Matovu Zaidi and security guards Muyanda Anthony and Odongo Alex, employed at Nsambya Hospital before fleeing the scene.

“The police have since recorded statements from the victims and eyewitnesses. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in these criminal acts.” Owoyesigyire highlighted

The police is also investigating a related case of simple robbery and assault targeting the doctor and the two security guards

Owoyesigyire assured the public that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice. “Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.” He said
