Kampala Uganda – Kampala metropolitan police has kicked off an investigation into CCTV camera robbery that occurred on 15th July 2024 at approximately 12pm around Eso Corner in Kampala city.
According to the deputy spokesperson of Kampala metropolitan police Luke Owoyesigyire, the victim had been identified as Mr. Joshi Keshav, a 32-year-old Indian national. ” A tour and travel company operator based at Crown House, Kampala Road, reported the incident to the Nkurumah Road Police Station.” Said Owoyesigyire
The CCTV footage shows Mr. Keshav on a motorcycle carrying a bag when he was cornered by several riders due to heavy traffic. The assailants proceeded to beat and rob him.
Owoyesigyire highlighted that the victim was robbed of several items including laptop valued at UGX 2.2 million, cash amounting to UGX 150,000, an Ecobank debit card, and keys. “Fortunately, Mr. Keshav sustained only minor injuries.” He said
He however noted that their team of investigators are currently working diligently, to trace the movements of the victim Mr. Keshav right from the start before the robbery incident. “Numerous clues have been gathered to aid in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in this crime.” He disclosed
Police said further details regarding the investigation into the crime will be availed to the general public as soon as possible.
