Tragic Road Accident Claims Six Lives in Ntungamo District

NTUNGAMO|The directorate of traffic and road safety have this morning registered a tragic road accident which has occurred at Kakiika along the Ntungamo-Rukungiri Road in Ntungamo District, claiming six lives and leaving three others injured.

According to SP Kananura Michael, the spokesperson for Traffic & Road Safety, “The crash involved a Hiace (UBN 337H) and an Isuzu bus (UAP 385U) belonging to Kasaaba Bus Company. The Hiace developed a tyre puncture and parked on the roadside with hazard lights on, but unfortunately, the bus veered off the road and collided head-on with the stationary vehicle.”

Kananura further stated that the accident resulted in the instantaneous death of six people, including the driver, turn man, and a police officer attached to Nsangi Police Station. “Three others were injured and are currently receiving medical attention at nearby health facilities.” He said

He also said, their traffic police responded promptly to the scene and transported the victims to Devine Health & Ntungamo Specialist Medical Centres for medical attention. “The bodies have been conveyed to Rwashameire Health Centre IV for post-mortem examination, while the motor vehicles have been towed to Ntungamo Central Police for further investigations.” He disclosed 

He however urged drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such tragic accidents on the roads. “We appeal to all drivers to be vigilant and cautious on the roads, especially during this rainy season. Let us prioritize safety and respect human life,” he emphasized.
