Kampala, Uganda – In a significant breakthrough, the Nateete Police Division has apprehended five suspects involved in an aggravated robbery incident. The arrests were made on June 1, 2024, during a foot patrol conducted by the Wakaliga Police Post.
“We are pleased to have successfully arrested these suspects and recovered stolen items, including a TV and a smartphone,” said Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police.
“This is a testament to our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our communities.” He added
The suspects, identified as Ssenjobe Robert alias Soda, Kateraga Elvis alias Mark, and three others, were found in possession of dangerous weapons such as pangas and house-breaking implements.
“We urge the public to continue providing us with valuable information to help us combat crime,” Owoyesigyire added. “Together, we can make our cities safer for everyone.”
The suspects have been charged with aggravated robbery and will be arraigned in court tomorrow. The owner of the recovered items has been traced and his statement has been taken.
This incident highlights the effectiveness of community policing and the importance of tip-offs from the public in fighting crime. The police have assured the public that they are increasing patrols in residential areas to curb burglaries and robberies.
