TikTok Star “Muzungu Boda” Removed from Uganda Over Illegal Work Status

Raid Samuel James Amin, popularly known as "Muzungu Boda" on TikTok who was removed from the country

Kampala, Uganda – Raid Samuel James Amin, popularly known as “Muzungu Boda” on TikTok, has been removed from Uganda and ordered back to his country New Zealand by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on allegations of  working illegally on a visitor’s pass.

According to Simon Peter Mundeyi, spokesperson for the ministry, Reid’s removal was not a deportation, but rather an organized departure due to his lack of proper documentation.

“There are two things here, organized departure that is if you are a foreigner working on a visitor’s pass or on a wrong visa, then we organize for your removal from the country, where you can be allowed back into the country in case you acquire the necessary documents,” Mundeyi explained. “This is different from deportation, which is ordered by the Minister of internal affairs or courts of law, here the individual isn’t allowed to return to the country.”

Muzungu boda’s ‘s troubles began when he started working without a valid work permit and running a charitable non-governmental organization (NGO) illegally.

His behavior also raised concerns, as seen in his TikTok videos where he was drifting young children on tarmac roads, disturbing an old woman carrying bananas, and behaving erratically at the airport.

Mundeyi highlighted that Reid’s actions were not only illegal but also culturally insensitive. “Such things aren’t allowed in African culture,” he said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has emphasized that Uganda has laws and regulations to follow, and working or studying on a visa or visitor’s tourist pass is not permissible.
