Kitara FC Wins the Stanbic Uganda Cup

The 50th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup climaxed on Saturday, 25th May 2024, at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, as NEC FC played against Kitara FC.

At half-time, the scoreline was goalless despite efforts from both teams to score past the goalkeepers.

Solomon Okwalinga scored the only goal of the match in the seventy-third minute to seal victory for the Hoima-based side.

Six points separated the two sides that played in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League when the 2023/2024 season ended, with Kitara FC (54 points) above NEC FC (48 points).

The match was attended by FUFA Executive Committee Member Isa Magoola, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, Prime Minister of Bunyoro Owek. Andrew K. Byakutaga, Stanbic Bank Executive Head of Personal and Private Banking Sam Mwogeza, and Plascon Uganda Head of Marketing Daniel Kayongo.

-Plascon Golden Glove – Jamil Kiyimba (Kitara FC)

-Plascon Best Defender – Gideon Odongo (NEC FC)

-Plascon Best Midfielder – Allan Mugalu (NEC FC)

-Plascon Top Scorer – Dhata Joseph Stephen Lujang (NEC FC – Six Goals)

-Plascon Most Valuable Player – Jamil Kiyimba (Kitara FC)
