State House, Entebbe – In a move aimed at enhancing trade, wildlife conservation, library services, and meteorological management, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has signed four bills into law. The signing ceremony took place at State House on Friday, June 14, 2024.
The four bills, recently passed by the Parliament of Uganda, were eagerly awaiting the President’s assent. With his signature, they are now officially laws, poised to bring significant changes to various sectors and they are as follows:-
The Free Zones (Amendment) Act, 2024, aims to boost trade and investment by providing a conducive environment for businesses to operate in designated free zones.
The Uganda Wildlife (Amendment) Act, 2024, seeks to strengthen conservation efforts and protect Uganda’s rich wildlife heritage.
The National Library (Amendment) Act, 2024, aims to enhance library services, promoting literacy and access to information.
The Uganda National Meteorological Authority (Amendment) Act, 2024, seeks to improve weather forecasting and management, enhancing the country’s resilience to climate-related challenges.
President Museveni’s signing of these bills demonstrates his commitment to driving economic growth, conservation, and public service delivery. The new laws are expected to have a positive impact on the country, driving progress and development in the respective sectors.
