National Water Announces Planned Water Outage in Kampala

Kampala, Uganda – The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced a planned power shutdown at the Ggaba Water Works, which will result in interruptions to the water supply in several areas of Kampala on Friday, September 13, 2024.

According to the NWSC, the shutdown is necessary to allow the Umeme team to improve power supply at the Ggaba Power Station. The works are designed to enhance power reliability at the station, but will require a total plant shutdown, resulting in water supply disruptions from 8am to 7pm.

Residents in affected areas, including Ggaba, Buziga, Kansanga, Munyonyo, Muyenga, Kampala CBD, Nansana, Matugga, Makerere, Kyengera, Nateete, Wankulukuku, Rubaga, Namirembe, Mengo, Kawempe, Bwaise, parts of Entebbe road, Nakawa, Kyambogo, Namasuba, Najjanankumbi, Lubowa, and Bombo road, are advised to store water and use it sparingly.

The NWSC has apologized for any inconvenience caused and assures customers that the shutdown is necessary to improve services in the long run. Customers are urged to take necessary precautions to ensure they have sufficient water during the shutdown period.
