The territorial traffic police in Rakai have kicked off investigations into a fatal accident that occured yesterday at Kiganda along Kyalulangira – Isingiro road
According to preliminary investigations, the accident occured at around 1:30pm involving motor vehicle registration number UAP 559X Canter Lorry at Kiganda along Kyalulangira-Isingiro Road.
According to the spokesperson of traffic Sp Michael Kananura, the driver of the motor vehicle was carrying 35 passengers who were heading to Isingiro.
“He lost control of the vehicle and overturned killing instantly 10 people and injuring 25 others.” Said Kananura
Kananura disclosed that their swiftly responded to the scene immediately, where the bodies were transported to Kyalulangira H/C III for post-mortem examination.
“the victims were also taken the same health centre for first aid, and they were transferred later to Rakia Hospital for treatment.” He stated
He however revealed that the driver of the motor vehicle is on the run, as more investigation regarding the cause of the accident continues.
