Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Police Force has arrested two suspects for staging an illegal road block and extorting money from locals in Indriani village, Lewa Parish, Adjumani district.
“We have arrested two suspects, Baguma George Ijjo and Bongomi Bara Rodgers, who were behind the illegal road block and robberies in the area,” Police spokesperson Enanga Fred said
The suspects, who include a youth leader, were found in possession of a motorcycle and a locally made nail barrier used to block the road. They had been targeting businessmen and charcoal dealers transporting goods from Zoka to Kampala, pretending to enforce a ban on charcoal transportation.
“The suspects arrests are a significant breakthrough in our efforts to combat crime in the area,” Enanga said. “We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the police.”
The police are tracing several victims of torture by the group and have recorded a statement from Nkalubo Muhammad, a victim from Lacor Hospital.
“We appreciate the support of the community in this matter and assure them that we will continue to work together to combat crime,” Enanga added.
The operation is ongoing, and the police assure the public that they will continue to work tirelessly to ensure safety and security in the area.
