Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Police Force has launched an investigation into allegations that Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), was shot and injured in Bulindo, Kiira Municipality, Wakiso District.
Earlier in the day, Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine attended a thanksgiving ceremony at the residence of NUP-affiliated lawyer George Musisi, which concluded peacefully.
Responding to the tragic incident, the police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke revealed that tensions arose when Kyagulanyi and his entourage decided to proceed on foot through Bulindo town, despite police advisories against it. “Despite Police’s guidance, he insisted on proceeding and closing the road, leading to police intervention to prevent the procession.” Kituuma highlighted
He also disclosed that during the ensuing altercation between Kyagulanyi’s team and their officers, conflicting reports emerged regarding the injuries sustained by the National Unity Platform’s leader Robert Kyagulanyi.
“Police officers on site claim he stumbled while getting into his vehicle, causing the injury, whereas Hon. Kyagulanyi and his team assert that he was shot.” He said
It’s upon the above background that he revealed the ongoing investigations by the uganda police force to determine the actual cause of the injuries inflicted on Kyagulanyi’s leg. “He was taken to Najaeem Medical Centre in Bulindo for first aid. The police will investigate the alleged shooting and any related incidents.”Kituuma said
