Government Releases UGX 3 Billion in Akasiimo Funds to Civilian Veteran Beneficiaries

Hon. Alice K. Kaboyo, the Minister of State for Luwero Triangle

KAMPALA|The Government of Uganda has released UGX 3 billion in Akasiimo funds to verified civilian veteran beneficiaries from Greater Luwero. The payment will benefit 1,269 beneficiaries who were cleared by the Veterans Verification Committee under the 51st schedule from the districts of Luwero, Nakasongola, and Nakaseke.

Since the inception of the Akasiimo Programme in 2008, the Government has verified and paid a total of 87,269 beneficiaries in recognition of their support and contribution during the liberation struggle (1981-1986).

The Veterans Verification Committee will continue to verify civilian veterans who have not yet been considered, and the Office of the Prime Minister will ensure that allocated funds for Akasiimo are paid to the rightful beneficiaries.

The lists of 1,269 Akasiimo beneficiaries, including their names, National Identification Numbers (NIN), amount received, sub-county, and district, will be displayed on notice boards in the respective beneficiary districts and the Luwero Regional Office for ease of reference.

“We are grateful to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda for his wisdom in establishing the Akasiimo Programme in 2008. This programme has enabled us to recognize and reward the contributions of our civilian veterans,” added Hon. Alice K. Kaboyo, the minister of state for Luwero Triangle
