Oyam, Uganda – A shocking incident has unfolded in Oyam District, where a 28-year-old man, Sam Odongo, is accused of committing a heinous crime against his wife, Sarah Angom. According to authorities, Odongo allegedly sodomized his wife, leading to severe injuries and ultimately, her tragic demise.
Jimmy Anywar, the LC3 chairperson for Ngai Sub-county, revealed the disturbing details of the case. “The suspect returned from a drinking joint late at night and started having sexual intercourse with her, naturally, before committing the unnatural act.”
Odongo was initially taken into custody but was released on police bond after the family agreed to let him care for his ailing wife. However, he callously abandoned her at a local health center and vanished. Anywar expressed outrage, stating, “The victim was taken to Ngai Health Centre III where the husband dumped her and disappeared.”
The victim was later referred to Aboke Health Centre IV in Kole District due to severe complications but unfortunately, the family couldn’t raise funds to transport her to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further treatment.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed that medical documents show the victim suffered severe complications on the uterus and anus and had been nursing her injuries at home. “Medical documents availed to police indicate the victim had complications on the uterus and the anus, and had since been nursing her injuries from home.”
The police are currently searching for Odongo, who remains at large. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice for the victim and her family.
