Luuka, Uganda – A fatal car accident in Luuka District claimed the lives of two individuals, including a former Woman MP aspirant, Gladys Aliyinza, and the Vice Chairman of LC II, Kirimwa Parish, Yusufu Biita.

According to ASP Kasadha Michael, the Regional Public Relations Officer for Busoga North, the accident occurred on Thursday at around 4:30 am on the Kamuli-Kaliro road.

“The double cabin Isuzu, registration number UG4654C, was traveling from the opposite direction when it collided with a sugarcane-loaded lorry, registration number UAU 073G, which was sloping due to excessive speed,” ASP Kasadha said.

He added that the impact of the crash was intense, and the vehicles overturned several times, resulting in the death of Biita at the scene and Aliyinza on the way to Musana Hospital in Kaliro District.

“The drivers of both vehicles are currently on the run, and we have launched a hunt to apprehend them and conduct further investigations,” ASP Kasadha said.

The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Kiyunga Health Centre IV and Musana Community Hospital for postmortem and further management.

ASP Kasadha urged drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to avoid such tragic accidents.
