Police probe CCTV footage robbery Captured along Ben Kiwanuka street

Kampala Metropolitan Police has kicked off an investigation into a tragic CCTV footage that has been making rounds on social media platforms showing a man being assaulted by a group of thugs along Ben Kiwanuka street.

Speaking about the incident, the deputy spokesperson of Kampala metropolitan police ASP Luke Owoyesigyire disclosed that the victim has been identified as Mugisha Tomson, 40 years old and a resident of Kyebando. “The attack occurred around Ben Kiwanuka Street at approximately 8 PM yesterday, May 22nd, 2024.” Luke stated

He also outlined that they’ve established that the victim was robbed of UGX. 450,000, a bag containing important documents, keys and a container. “The Central Police Station in Kampala has promptly opened inquiries into this attack.” He said

He’s further said that two suspects have identified and are currently assisting with the ongoing Investigations. “We are actively working to trace and apprehend all individuals involved and ensure they are brought to justice.” Said KMP deputy pro

He’s however urged the members of the general public to exercise maximum vigilance and be mindful of their surroundings, adding that incase of any suspicious activities they shouldn’t hesitate to make an alarm or notifying the police immediately. “Public cooperation is essential in preventing such incidents and ensuring community safety.” He emphasised
